The country of Sweden is thoroughly involved in economic globalization, being that it is a heavily exported trade system that leverages production of its natural resources. The timber industry is the second most important production market in Sweden, this is easily understood because the country is nearly 70% forest. Sweden’s timber market competes only with the timber market of Canada for the global leader of timber export, and Sweden is the global leader in exportation of cellulose (timber stock material). The mining industry in Sweden is very important to the country’s economy, and according to www.encyclopedia.com it is one of the most active mining countries in all of Europe. The iron ore that is mined in Sweden is used to create extremely high quality steel that is used to manufacture products across the globe.
The other side of globalization is the fact that while Sweden has created an export oriented trade system, the effects of mining natural resources and clear cutting forests for timber can be adverse to the Swedish ecosystem. With the demand for Swedish exports rising year over year eventually resources (or goods) will become scares, this will cause the Swedish economy to basically collapse. The problem then would be that there would not be enough goods/resources to meet the demand of unlimited human wants, couple this with the fact that Sweden has an export oriented economy, then the effects of globalization for Sweden can be seen in a much more dim light.
